Holly Magic Wand – Custom and unique – Powerful but volatile

Description

Holly can make powerful, but volatile, even unpredictable wands. It is a wood of opposites, lending great strength to spells relating to love and conflict, healing and death, but the outcome will often be different than expected.

Each wand is unique. I start with a branch of fallen or sustainably cut Holly, and work with the natural shape of the piece to produce something beautiful. Once finished, the wand is sanded and polished smooth where appropriate to be comfortable in the hand.

Wand Cores

Shell
Element: Water
A wand with a piece of shell from a sea creature as a core will have improved energy control, and be better at protecting its wielder. Shell lends a wand a persistent nature which helps with success where there had been failure before.

Feather
Element: Air
Feather as a core material gives a greater chance of success with improvised magic, but can make long rituals difficult. Wands with a feather core will be happier to change hands than other wands without losing power.

Stone
Element: Earth
Properly attuned or empowered stones within a wand can make it more reliable, even when your own energy is low. A wand with a stone core will improve as it is worked with, gradually losing any traits that clash with its wielder.

Iron
Element: Earth, Fire
Iron is traditionally a ward against magic, and iron items are often used in spells to protect. Using iron in the core of a wand sacrifices some of its natural power in favour of excellence at protection of its master. A wand with an iron core will often develop a headstrong nature, and may produce unintended effects.

Sage
Element: Air, Earth
A woody stem of sage, used in the core of a wand, improves its efficacy with healing. A sage core can also lead to a wand developing a thoughtful nature. It will help with learning spells and make complex charms easier.
